Combining an interest in visual arts and art history with an education in science and architecture, Laura takes a creative approach to problem solving as the firm's Managing Director of Practice.
Broadly experienced in the technical aspects of the architectural field, she oversees the firm’s initiatives and activities related to technical excellence. Laura started her career designing office buildings and exploring the possibilities of energy-efficient housing. She began her tenure at the Studio in 1987, took a number of years to develop her own practice in 1997, returned in 2011 – shortly thereafter becoming an Associate – and was promoted to Senior Associate in 2014. In 2016 she was promoted to her current role of Managing Director of Practice where she oversees bringing technical excellence to the firm's practice.
Laura's work includes complex and high-profile projects and she has acted as project manager for Studio on Richmond, a two-tower condominium development in downtown Toronto; Monde, a luxury condominium in the city’s East Bayfront area targeted as LEED Gold; and Town Center, the rebranding of a shopping centre in Atlanta, Georgia. Other projects include 36 Hazelton, Corktown Phase II, The Address at High Park and The 42. Active on the firm’s Technical and CAD Standards Committee, Laura also sits on the Professional Practice Committee of the Ontario Association of Architects and volunteers with the national architect licensing exam (EXAC).
